Oceanarium

Ocean park has interactive exhibits including scarey stone fish, slithering sea snakes, cute and inquisitive turtles in our massive oceanarium opening soon. Even the most diehard fisherman visiting Shark Bay will only get to see a fraction of the marine wild life from this area. Some animals live near the surface, some congregate around reefs, some hide in the rocks and in the weed and some patrol the ocean floor to eke out an existence.

While the most ambitious diver can enjoy these natural wonders it is not without risk.

Ocean Park has constructed a 600,000 litre aquarium that stands outdoors overlooking the Western Gulf where you can enjoy these natural wonders in perfect comfort and safety.

It is a microcosm of the Shark Bay marine environment. Visitors can view through quality flat glass windows a natural exhibition of animals living in the "wild". There are no artificial lights, no artificial filtration and no artificial effects.

This is the real McCoy - you could be diving in 6 metres of water in the open ocean.

This project has been years in the making as Ocean Park, a small family business, has planned, financed and built it from scratch. The aquarium will be a constantly changing environment as animals will prey on each other. The Ocean park proprietors will replenish stocks of the animals in the aquarium to show visitors, the whole year round, one of the most beautiful, but not so readily accessible, parts of Shark Bay.

With a clever use of ground water mixed with water from the Bay this microcosm can be maintained at the optimum temperature.
